Major Fremantle Festivals Not to Miss

Fremantle Festival: 10 Nights in Port

Running across ten nights in August, 10 Nights in Port is a flagship arts festival featuring a broad mix of performance, visual art, music and community events. With a focus on local creatives and grassroots experiences, the festival transforms the city’s streets and venues into spaces for storytelling, creativity and connection. It’s a celebration of place, people and shared culture.

Fremantle Running Festival

Taking place on Sunday, 9 November 2025 at the Esplanade Reserve, the 2025 Revo Fitness Fremantle Running Festival returns with an exciting program designed for runners of all levels. Choose from a scenic 5km course, a 10km run, or the Half Marathon for a bigger challenge, all set against the backdrop of Fremantle’s heritage streets and coastal views.

The Half Marathon Relay is also back for its third year, allowing teams of 2 or 3 to tackle the 21.1km course together. The relay includes three legs: the first at 10.1km, followed by two shorter 5.5km sections, making it ideal for friends or colleagues who want to share the experience and energy of race day.

With a lively event village at Esplanade Reserve, it’s a great day out for spectators and participants alike. A portion of proceeds from the event supports Operation Sunshine, helping provide care and support to vulnerable children and families across Western Australia, so every step helps make a difference.

Fremantle Biennale

Every two years, Fremantle Biennale transforms the city with site-responsive contemporary art from acclaimed local and international artists. Set in unique locations across Walyalup (Fremantle), the largely free festival invites audiences to explore the stories, histories and spirit of place through immersive experiences. Rooted in collaboration and Country, the next Biennale will return 14–30 November 2025, an unmissable cultural journey across land, water and sky.

Fremantle BeerFest

BeerFest brings the ultimate celebration of craft beer, cider, cocktails and street food to Esplanade Park from 14–16 November 2025. With hundreds of unique drops, live entertainment, roving performers and the legendary Beer Olympics, it’s a weekend packed with flavour and fun. Grab your crew, find a patch of grass, and settle in for a classic Freo day out.

 

Events in Fremantle in 2025

Street Gallery Fremantle Project

From 1 January to 31 December 2025, this city-wide project transforms Fremantle into an open-air gallery. Shopfronts across the city feature murals and installations by both emerging and established artists. The works evolve throughout the year, encouraging repeat visits and fresh experiences for locals and visitors alike.

Sunday Music – Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre

From October through March, Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre presents free weekly concerts in its garden courtyard. Featuring a curated lineup of Western Australian musicians, Sunday Music invites guests to relax on the lawn with friends, food and live sounds. The program spans genres and is known for its community feel and great atmosphere.

AFLW Season

The AFLW season kicks off at Fremantle Oval on 23 August 2025. The Dockers women’s team brings high-energy football to Freo, with home games attracting local fans and visitors. The venue is walkable from cafes, bars and the waterfront, making it easy to plan a full day around the match.
