Five cosy winter activities for your next stay at our Fremantle accommodation

Looking to visit and book accommodation in Fremantle for your next getaway? Here’s our guide to planning the best winter escape in this historic Australian port city.

Every savvy holiday planner knows that the winter holidays tend to have better hotel deals, but it can be challenging to find activities to keep you entertained during the colder months. While many of Freo’s attractions are best enjoyed on a sunny day, there’s another side to this beautiful city to be enjoyed on frostier days and nights.

If you’re looking to visit and book accommodation in Fremantle for your next getaway, here’s our guide to planning the best winter escape in this historic port city.

Choose a Fremantle hotel at the centre of it all

Our first tip is to find accommodation that is near all the sights, so you don’t have to traipse all over the place through the cold. Located in East Freo, The Tradewinds Hotel is just four minutes away from Fremantle Train Station and the city’s key attractions.

Whether you’re travelling as a couple or group of people, we offer a range of luxury accommodation with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay.

Crawl Freo’s iconic bar, pub, and restaurant scene

Famous amongst foodies for its eclectic mix of restaurants, small bars, and breweries, Freo is one big delicious maze of places to eat, drink, and be merry.

For larger groups seeking a cosy spot to dig into hearty winter warmer dishes, check out Tradewinds Hotel’s own restaurant, which offers local and delicious food and exciting cocktails with a view over Perth’s Swan river.

For big nights out we recommend exploring Emily Taylor or Nieuw Ruin, followed by late night cocktails at The Odd Fellow inside The Norfolk Hotel.  This cosy little dive bar is open until midnight every night and has an impressive back bar with hundreds of bottles of top shelf spirits.

Sweat out the stress at The Neighbourhood Sauna

Weather too cold for a swim at the beach? Dive into a sauna instead! Besides keeping you warm and sheltered from the stormy outdoors, a visit to the sauna can have many physical and mental benefits, helping to improve sleep and blood circulation, boost your mood, and unclog your pores (who doesn’t want clearer skin and better sleep at night?)

For a day of relaxation and reinvigoration, take a trip to Fremantle’s bustling South Terrace (also known as the “Cappuccino Strip”) to The Neighbourhood Sauna, an infrared sauna offering a range of therapeutic services.

Go ice skating at WINTERWORLD July 2022

Fremantle’s annual winter festival is back again in July this year at Walyalup Koort (King’s Square), featuring Australia’s biggest open-air ice rink, open for ice skating, ice hockey, and figure skating demonstrations.

Whether you want to get your skates on, play in the snow, or roast marshmallows over the fire pit, there’s fun for all ages at WINTERWORLD.

You can sign up here for more information and updates about the event here.
